Well, now we’ve been in Benson a little more then a week. The first couple of days were spent unloading the truck and getting settled in. Benson is a small town with a feel of tranquility, calm and quiet. No rush hour traffic! Yay! And so far the weather has been great! In fact, last night it was quite chilly! Today, it is afternoon and it is only 65 degrees! Niceeee..!
They have no mall (imagine that?)! If you want to go shopping, they have a Wal-Mart or a Safeway. If you need a prescription filled (Transferred from a Walgreen’s in Tempe ), the closest Walgreen’s is in Sierra Vista , 30 minutes away or Tucson 45 minutes away. But there isn’t much traffic, which is great!
We have quite a few projects that we need to get done while here in Benson. One of them is for me to learn how to groom Maximus! Joy, who has been a dog groomer for many, many years, is my teacher. Last Monday was the day! I was pretty nervous right before we got started! I didn’t realize there was so much to grooming a dog! Once we got Maxi up on the groomer’s table, I wasn’t nervous at all. And Maxi was GREAT! I thought we were going to have quite a fight, but, nope..! He was a very well behaved boy and just sat there while Joy showed me how to start with the clippers, how to go with the grain of his hair, NEVER against..! I’ve added some pictures so you could see, before and after pictures..! The fight came once we got him in the tub to bathe him. I have no idea how he will run into a pond chasing ducks but hates going into a tub to get bathed…LOL!

One of Keith’s projects, while here in Benson, was to make Joy a garden. Since she has had a double knee replacement she has a hard time getting down on her knees, so the idea is to make her a “sitting garden”. Which means it is built up to where she can sit on the sides and plant or weed it. Keith has already begun on this project. This past Saturday, I helped him! I spent a couple hours with him hammering nails, digging holes (for the posts) and using the electric saw! LOL…it was a lot of fun! Too bad no one was around to take pictures of THAT! It was a lot of fun for me even though I got a lot of sun and now have a sun burn on my shoulders and back. The first of many, I am sure.
That’s it for today…stay tuned for more of Life in Benson!
