Sailing to the Florida Keys IV

December 3, 2011
Venice, Florida
Crow’s Nest Marina

This morning we went ahead and came into the Crow’s Nest to pay for a slip for the day.  It’s a really small marina with just a handful of slips and most of those slips are pretty tight and narrow.

When we came in they put us in a slip where we had to park between two motor boats.  The Dock Master told us there was 60 feet between the two motor boats but, it sure didn’t look like it and I was the one that was going to park the boat!! :O  I shouldn’t have worried, I did GREAT!!  Parked the sailboat as if I’d been born to park boats!! LOL!!  The Dock Master told us that we couldn’t stay in the slip we’d slipped into…because they were expecting another Yacht and that Yacht was parking there….pppffffttttt!!!  Soooooo once again we had to pull out and park at another slip!!  Once again, I parked the boat like a pro…even the dock master told me I’d done a good job!  :D

By this time it is after 1:30 pm.  We decide to make a grocery list and begin our long walk to the grocery store.  I’d looked up the grocery store, Publix on my IPHONE and it said that it was 2.6 miles away.  We thought mmhh not bad, we can walk that!  We got out Maxi’s stroller, a couple bottles of water and began our walk.  Maxi was really good about walking the first mile.  After that we had to put him in the stroller which was okay, that is what the pet stroller is for.  We made it to the grocery store without a problem.  Most of the people we walked past would smile as they looked at Maxi in the stroller.some would say, “That is the only way to travel!”  “Isn’t he cute?” Compliments all the way!! LOL J

The walk back was a bit rough.  Carrying a couple of bags, carrying two twelve packs of soda and pushing Maxi back in the stroller.  Needless to say, we were tired when we finally made it to our boat!

We’d left at 2:30 pm and got back in at 5:30 pm.  After we got back to the boat we BBQ steaks, made mashed potatoes and corn for dinner and watched the Boat Lights Parade.  Beautiful!!  I’ll try and post some of the videos I took of them.

It will be another early night for us since we are going to be getting up at 6 am because we need to be underway at 6:30 am.

Good night!!
